Chester Astronomical Society is one of the world's oldest scientific societies going back to 1892.
It hosts public lectures by amateurs and professionals alike and arranges visits to sites of technical interest.
Thanks Stephen for putting this on the website/blog. I checked the BBC website last late night (28th) and saw the report by Jonathan Amos (science correspondent) that the comet had been destroyed. It now looks like a bit of it has survived. Whether it will be visible to casual observers in December is another question!
